Haarlem Netherlands

Haarlem is a city outside Amsterdam in the northwest of the Netherlands. Once an important North Sea trading port surrounded by defensive walls, the city has retained its medieval character with its cobblestone streets and gabled houses. It lies at the center of a large bulb-growing area and is famous for its secluded tulip fields, as well as its art museums and hofjes (housing developments built around a leafy courtyard).
